Up yours!

He was the best player in the world for many years, but when his focus went from
his performance on the field to his bank balance, this started to go south.

Fans got turned off my the most disgraceful whoring of a great player....and you
cant just blame his manager, Johns to has to take much of the blame.

Andrew Johns probably thought it was a good idea to squeeze every last cent out
of the Newcastle Knights....but when the 2005 season rolled around and he
realised that the team he now plays on is crap....he must have had some second
thoughts.

So what does playing on a losing side for the last four years of a career do for a
players legacy?

Not much.
I cant think of ANYTHING that could be
going on in this picture that couldn't end in
a very rude conversation.

"And so I'm playing Gran Turismo and Im
three seconds behind Kurt Gidley....and in
the last corner he spins out, I over take
him and OH...YEAH......I won!"

See, it just doesnt make sense.

My guess is the conversation was more
like this:

"You know what I think of those
Queenslanders don"t you Gus....."
John Hopoate pictured applying for Centrelink benefits:
Of Course, this is the hit that ended Hoppa's career.

What this picture doesn't show is that Hoppa ran in
from the far side of the field off his wing, he was
running hard and fast and broke from a cross field run
and lined up Keith Galloway before he had even got
the ball.

As Galloway caught the ball and passed straight
away, he had no idea what had hit him.

Lining up a player like this, your not thinking of
tackling him, your just trying to hurt him.
This was the aftermath.

Galloway was knocked out and it was a
sickening sight to see.

He ended up needing stitches for a split
ear and come away with a concussion.

What didn't help was the situation was
that manly players ran over straight away
and started congratulating Hopoate for
the hit.

The ref, with advice from touch judges
and the video ref ended up sending
Hopoate from the field.
Oh.....

Here he is, Hoppa the victim.

And so its the same old story. He had people coming out
saying "He's a really good bloke" and "He is just mis
understood".

Hopoate apologised, as he always does, but this time it was
the last straw.

I cant ever remember a player getting rubbed out of the game
and having fans across the code feeling relief that he is gone.

Lets hope he never comes back.
